Redesign and digital manufacturing of large metallic components

  • Start: 12/03/2018
  • End: 11/10/2020

AM0Diño project has as main objective the development and implementation of a methodology of (re) design and manufacturing oriented to digital manufacturing, efficient and with zero defects, of large and high added value components in steel, inconel and copper-aluminum for the goods sector, equipment and shipbuilding. The project will address two technologies, classified as Direct Energy Deposition (DED) mainly:
- Deposition of Metallic Powder by Laser (powder-blown Laser Metal Deposition, LMD) and
- Electrical Arc Additive Manufacturing (Wire-Arc Additive Manufacturing, WAAM)

The specific objectives of the projects are:

- The development of a software solution that guides the technician through the different CAx tools during the redesign of large components oriented to DED to obtain more efficient components in raw material, cost and delivery time, as well as a greater added value, since the cost and delivery time of each large component is highly dependent on the efficiency of the production process.
- The development of the LMD and WAAM processes through the adjustment of process parameters for the materials of interest of the final users and the installation of a WAAM manufacturing cell in THUNE EUREKA.
