Manufacturing of structural components of variable section for automotive industry obtained by means of contiuous roll forming of AHSS

  • Start: 01/03/2012
  • End: 31/12/2014

PERFIL+ is a large integrated experimental and strategic project whose main objective is the development of a new technology for continuous forming of flat sheet steel (based on the rollforming process), to obtain profiles with variable section along their length.
One of the objectives of the project is the development, design and prototyping of a machine that shows the feasibility of manufacturing structural parts in AHSS (currently achieved by hot stamping), reducing costs, and increasing competitiveness of the company in the sheet metal processing sector, to be able to offer new components and assemblies to vehicle manufacturers and adapting to their increasingly demanding design requirements.
The main technological leap of the project is to implement a new technology to manufacture new structural elements that today can only be addressed through complex stamping processes.
This project has been promoted by GRUPO ANTOLIN–PGA S.A. (leading the project), dedicated to the design and manufacture of metal parts for the car structure: load separators, door reinforcements, glass guides, door frames, impact beams, etc.
This company has leaded the integration of the different results and the validation of the developed technology in the environment of the metal parts manufacturers for the automotive sector.
The consortium also includes the participation of HISPAMOLDES, specializing in the design and high precision machining; AUKOR, specializing in process automation and integration; and MECAMOS S.A. specialist in the design and manufacture of machines, tooling and manufacturing lines.
AIMEN and CTAG, 2 of the most important Galician Technological Centers in their respective fields, have collaborated with the companies among other tasks: in the development of numerical models to predict the behavior of the sheet steel as it is formed; the calculation of the process kinematics; the validation and testing of the demonstrators obtained; the characterization of the AHSS used in the project, etc
