Development of advanced monitoring and maintenance systems for wind energy sector

  • Start: 01/04/2013
  • End: 28/02/2015

DESEO is a large integrated experimental and strategic project for wind energy sector aiming the development of new monitoring-based strategies for reducing the maintenance associated costs and guaranteeing the structural integrity of windmills.
DESEO is focused on two main research lines:
1) Development of advanced monitoring of different elements: blades, power train, etc.
2) Development of low cost and quick-applicable composite-based systems for foundations.
The Consortium is led by COTERENA and counts on the participation of companies such as IBERDROLA, ENERGEA and IMFUTURE, integrating this way the major players within the wind energy sector. The Consortium is also supported by the collaboration of AIMEN Technology Centre, the Electronics and Computer Science department at the University of Santiago de Compostela, the Signal Theory and Communications department at the University of Vigo or AIN Technology Centre.
AIMEN 's role consisted of:
- Lubricants analysis for early detection of abnormalities.
- Development of hardware and software system for visual monitoring of vibrations of windmills.
- Development of composite-based patches for foundations repairing
This project has been supported by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) by the CDTI, the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness and Innovation Galician Agency.
