Development of an innovative back seat system through a new overinjection technology

DESPEGA project develops a new rear seat manufacturing system for the automotive industry, that consiste of a one-shot injection process comprising upholstery, foam and frame. This new manufacturing process reduces cost and manufacturing time.
In order to obtain this new manufacturing system it is necessary; firstly to develop an intelligent mold that has a temperature and pressure computational control which allows the set up of the best conditions for fhe foam to overinject, secondly to develop new foams with a good adhesive in the upholstery and frame without loss of comfort, and finally to develop an advanced process to remove the foam from the mold without the use of the mold release agent.
Aimen is responible of performing the intellligent system to monitor and control the temperature and pressure inside the mold and to evaluate the best conditions for the mold release operation.
