The aim of the SOLERIS project was design and development solar thermal power systems that allow the self-generation of heat at medium temperatures (80 - 120 °C), to meet the needs of food industry and residential sector.
The SOLERIS project, not only have developed a more efficient solar collector, but it has also been important to improve heat storage efficiency and develop a control system that allows its integration with automation systems and industrial processes. This system has been validated both in a house and in canning industry.
SOLERIS project contributes to strengthening renewable energy sector in Galicia, availability of equipment adapted to region climate and led to one of the major productive sectors in the community as it is food industry. Another benefit of the project will be to reduce the environmental impact and collaborate on climate change mitigation in Galicia, to replace the conventional energy sources, such as oil and natural gas, by renewable energy.
