The main target of HORNO proyect consists of the development of a technology for reheating steel slabs in a scale free furnace in order to reduce the loss of material due to corrosion.
To develop and implement this reheating system in industrial furnaces it is necessary to know the loss of material in several combustion atmospheres. This task has to be done in a laboratory furnace where an exact control of combustion conditions exists. Also, it is necessary to perform the simulation of the furnace in different combustion atmospheres in order to know how to affect the energy efficiency and heat balance. Once these results are obtained, it will be performed with the necessary changes in the combustion system and the control of furnace, in order to achieve the best operating conditions of the industrial furnace, where the loss of material from corrosion without decreasing the energy balance are reduced.
Aimen performs the laboratory test to determinate the loss of material due to the different combustion atmospheres and different temperatures.
