The main objective of PhoSIL is the development of new high efficiency PV cell architectures based on laser based manufacturing, alternative feedstock and reduction of waste material. Ultrathin, flexible PV cells of high efficiency and low production cost were prototyped, with potential to be used in integrated devices and opening new market opportunities. Innovative flexible PV modules are economic, as can be produced from rejected silicon feedstock or defective PV cells which are laser processed and suited with transparent electrodes to form the complete assembly.
AIMEN was the project coordinator and participated in the development of new laser processing of silicon, and in process automation tasks.
