New technologies for foamed polyurethane products manufacturing

The main objective of NEWFOAM project is to develop new technologies for foamed polyurethane products manufacturing, oriented primarily to the automotive sector, but with applicability in other markets and other industrial processes where control and monitoring are needed. It is intended to improve manufacturing processes and acquire new knowledge for building a solid technological base. The scientific and technical objectives of the project fall into three research areas: development of new formulations for new foamed advanced materials, development of new technologies to facilitate the demolding process, and development of new active molds for new foaming processes. It is intended to obtain monitored and controlled foaming processes in real time, as well as polyurethane products with enhanced properties and new functionalities. Likewise, the elimination or reduction of the amount of solvent-based release agents used is a priority, both from environmental and economic point of view. AIMEN is actively involved in all these lines, providing and increasing its knowledge regarding materials characterization, control and process monitoring, surface treatment technologies to improve demolding process, and mold design.
