Product range flexible manufacturing by plant dynamic reconfiguration

The main objective of the PROFETA project is to make progess in the development of flexible manufacturing systems, focusing on the demonstration of a new production concept based on product ranges by plant dynamic reconfiguration. The product range manufacturing - small batch sizes or wide product variation - requires the development of new solutions that allows a highly flexible manufacturing capability. This capacity is essential in order to respond to the manufacturing of products that are becoming more complex and to fast changes in market demand. In this sense, PROFETA proposes the development and integration of agile manufacturing management tools (MES - Manufacturing Execution System) with the implementation of new automated solutions highly reconfigurable. These solutions will be based on new automation worker-centred technologies, enabling a more natural and safe human-robot interaction and collaboration, by means of the technological progress in the security system, the automation and the interaction. This concept will be validated in picking activities and big manufacturing for the aerospace and metalworking industry.
To address this challenge, a consortium led by DGH, a spanish company specialized in process engineering and plant integral maintenance, together with three companies supplying the necessary technologies, has been consolidated. ONTECH, as technology-based company specialized in the developoment advanced sensor-equipped systems, will serve as the basis in PROFETA for the development of the sensors that will be part of the shared-spaced security system. NOSOLOSOFTWARE, spanish company specialized in TIC solutions, will be in charge of the MES implementation. Finally, SOFITEC, international aerospace company specialized in the manufacture of aerostructures in composite and metallic materials, as final user.
Taking into account the high innovative character of PROFETA proposal, which contemplates in its work plan some very innovative tasks that require specific means and experience, the consortium have considered necessary the support of the AIMEN TECH
