R3POWER presents a comprehensive, reliable, and robust initiative in the "integral circular repowering" of wind farms, applying three joint strategies that maximize their circularity around Reuse, Recycling, and Valorization (zero waste), as well as waste prevention—new materials that are easily recyclable and repairable—catalyzed by transversal technologies such as AI, while pursuing low environmental and economic impact.
A1. Strategy for waste utilization: reuse through diagnostics, refurbishment, and monitoring of foundations and electrical and mechanical components (leader AIMEN).
A2. Strategy for waste utilization: recycling and valorization technologies for all wind turbine blade recycling streams (zero waste) within the same sector and in other strategic sectors (leader CETIM).
A3. Strategy for waste prevention: new materials (synthetic and bio-based) that are easily recyclable and repairable during their operation and end of life (leader AEROX).
A.4 All three circular strategies will be validated together (leader NORVENTO) in an eco-designed experimental wind turbine with a power capacity between 600-800kW.
AIMEN's role is the study of reuse and refurbishment of foundations and towers, as well as the evaluation and validation of the new materials developed in the project and the assessment of the recyclability and repairability of the composites developed.
