RECUPERA project propose a solution based on the combination between robotics and virtual reality rehabilitation environments, focused on the recovery of the mobility of upper limbs of patients with the needed of neuromotor rehabilitation, and the main objective is to carry out clinical tests on patients with neurologic pathologies.
The origin of RECUPERA project is FISIOROB project, in which a first functional prototype has been developed that ensures the feasibility of using a robotized solution in rehabilitation sessions. In this second phase, clinical trials with real patients will allow clinical validation of this prototype, which combines a collaborative robot and an inmersive virtual reality system. This modular robotized system will allow patients to be assisted in all recovery phases, from the most critital one to the phase prior to the discharge from the hospital.
The development of an inmersive virtual environment will enable a best interaction of the patient with the virtual scene, increasing its motivation, and, therefore, the effectiveness of the of the occupation therapy. Furthermore, a sensory proprioceptive system will be developed, focused on localization of the real objects used in the therapies.
Within the scope of the project a system is included that will allow measure, monitoring and classify the patient evolution during rehabilitation, including an innovative analysis system of movement through the use of video recording.
