  • Start: 01/01/2015
  • End: 31/12/2016

The main objective of Shipbuilding 4.0 is to boost the innovative capacity of the Galician naval industry by developing advanced manufacturing technologies which facilitate the increased use of technology and the technological evolution of the sector. Other specific objectives are: Technology transfer from the innovation centres to the naval sector; Increase the presence of the sector in the main European platforms; Provide this industry with a reference space in technological innovation; Facilitate the access of Galician naval companies to funding lines within the Horizon 2020 programme.
This initiative was promoted by the Regional Government of Galicia and emerged to boost the competitiveness of the Shipbuilding sector by means of the permanent collaboration among the most representative agents. Thus, in collaboration with the Cluster of the Galician Naval Industry - ACLUNAGA, the Galician Innovation Agency - GAIN, now coordinates, leads and funds a project which came into being under the agreement signed between GAIN, IGAPE and AIMEN Technology Centre.
In the scope of the initiative a wide program of seminars and workshops is being carried out to show the most advanced technologies related to shipbuilding. Furthermore, several prototypes will be built to validate and show the benefits of their implementation.
