Flexible and expert robotized laser cell, easy to use

The main goal in this project is to develop a Flexible and Expert Robotized Cell to tackle the laser processing automation as an economical and feasible solution to manufacture customized short series with hundreds of references. All of those, in order to be used by a non-expert operator, with no skills in robot programming, neither laser setting up.
To achieve this, AIMEN, with its expertise in laser processing and automation, has collaborated in the development of the following systems:
• An expert system able to setting up the laser processes (welding and textile cutting). To develop the expert system it was created a relational database to batch welding and cutting test results. A bunch of inference rules for fuzzy systems have been defined as well, adding an intelligent behavior to the system.
• An automatic processing robot trajectories generator system capable to generate the processing trajectories from a CAD file. A group of application programs were developed to get the trajectories information from a CAD file like DXF or CATIA. With this information, they are able to generate the complete instruction program to load on a robot afterwards.
• An integrated system with simplified interface, working on a unique computer to facilitate the operation. Regarding this, a control system was developed to interoperate between the other applications.
