The project between Copo Group Technology Centre, Copo Galicia and AIMEN has been stablished with the aim of improving both the materials and manufacturing processes associated to EPP, solving this way the problems related with the production of these types of products. This will be done with the development of new manufacturing routes based on nanotechnology, simulation tools, advanced process control systems and sensory, and so on.
It is worth to say that EPP presents a promising development potential, not only in the automotive sector but in plenty of sectors. Thereby, the results produced by the project will have an immediate impact in the automotive sector, but it will be possible too to apply them in plenty of sectors in the short term, with a maximization on the impact of the obtained results. The ultimate purpose of this project is oriented to guarantee the current position of COPO Group in the manufacturing of EPP components for passive security purposes. From this point of view, it is worth to say that the development of new materials and manufacturing process plays a relevant role boosting products with high added value. Thus, materials are an enabling technology that sustain the development of new products and services, and which contribute, in a decisive way, to the improvement of welfare in our society. Its relevance is present in the H2020 programme, where nanotechnologies, advanced materials and advanced manufacturing processes are considered Key Enabling Technologies (KET) that determine the position of Europe in the global market.
