Metal matrix nano-composite coatings utilization as alternative to hard chromium

  • Start: 01/06/2022
  • End: 30/11/2025

The MOZART project will work towards the development of Safe and Sustainable by Design (SSbD) high-quality durable coating solutions to replace Hard Chromium (HC), based on nickel matrix nano-composite electroplating processes.

The expected results are the development of two types of composite coatings, a Ni matrix with ceramic nano-particles (SiC, Al2O3, BC4), and a Ni matrix with 2D nanomaterials (Graphene, MoS2, WS2).

The AIMEN's role is to develop an artificial intelligence (AI) hybrid framework for material properties prediction using physics-informed neural networks and design the electrolyte used on the plating process using AI generative models.
